For each issue, we ask a writer or artist to select books related to a theme or a recent project. Then we ask other writers to review or respond to those book selections.

For issue 3 we asked Brontez Purnell, the author of the novels, Johnny Would You Like Me if My Dick Were Bigger? and Since I Laid My Burden Down, winner of a 2018 Whiting Award for Fiction.

For issue 2 we asked two writers: poet, Tongo Eisen-Martin, whose most recent book from City Lights Pockets Poets, Heaven is All Goodbyes (2017), won the 2017 California Book Award for Poetry and a 2018 American Book Award; and novelist, Colin Winnette, whose most recent novel, The Job of the Wasp, was released in 2018 by Soft Skull Press.

For issue 1 we asked Rachel Khong, author of the novel, Goodbye, Vitamin (2017), and the winner of the California Book Award for First Fiction, as well as the Los Angeles Times Book Prize Finalist for First Fiction.
