For each issue, we ask a writer or artist to select books related to a theme or a recent project. Then we ask other writers to review or respond to those book selections.

For issue two, we asked two writers: poet, Tongo Eisen-Martin, whose most recent book is Heaven is All Goodbyes from City Lights Pocket Poets Series in 2017; and novelist, Colin Winnette, whose novel, The Job of the Wasp, was released in 2018 by Soft Skull Press.

Both Tongo and Colin chose more books than we had space to print reviews for—but we’re presenting each complete list: Tongo’s as a syllabus of resistance; Colin’s as a reading list on “troubled” children.
